A warm welcome awaits you in Lechalde, a pleasant town set alongside the banks of the River Thames in Gloucestershire. Lechlade once played a part in the wool industry, and was also the point from which nearby quarries transported stone to be used in buildings such as Windsor Castle. Today Lechlade enjoys an array of leisure pursuits, both on and off the river.

In its position alongside the river, Lechlade is a starting point for the ‘Thames Way’ a walking route on the National Trail that runs from Gloucestershire right through to London. There are also plenty of riverside businesses to explore, including the famous Trout Inn at St John’s Bridge. The pub holds regular events throughout the year including Beer Festivals and Folk/Roots Music Concerts.

Other attractions in Lechlade include the Church of Saint Lawrence, located in the Market Square, a range of shops including an all year round Christmas Shop, the Old Bell Pottery and Craft Shop, The Bookcave, Lechlade Garden Centre, and The Black Cat Tea Rooms. For those wanting to explore further afield, boat trips along the river are available from Riverside Park, while the nearby area features Cotswold Wildlife Park, Little Faringdon Mill, and the village of Filkins, with its cottage industries. There’s also the hustle and bustle of town life, with Cirencester, Oxford, Swindon, and all their facilities and attractions within reach.

The town is at a junction for several main A roads, so is easy to access, and ideal as a base to explore the wider Gloucestershire area. There’s also a range of family run, pub or farm based Bed and Breakfast facilities available for visitors, so why not stay here, and enjoy all the charm and character of this riverside town!
